Castle ruin Waldenburg
The castle ruin Waldenburg is the oldest non-sacral monument in the district of Olpe. It lies above the Waldenburg chapel and the Biggesee reservoir. The castle can be reached via the paved road toward Bürberg. After about 300 meters, a forest path leads over the moats to the castle ruin.
Near the Waldenburg chapel another forest path begins and initially runs parallel to the Biggesee reservoir, but later it branches to the castle ruin.
Coming from the city of Attendorn you also can walk over the Bigge bridge towards Helden and walk after 50 meters in the right direction to the Bay of Waldenburg.
The castle ruin is located on a hill directly at the Biggesee reservoir in the southern Sauerland. Parking is available in the Bay of Waldenburg near the Waldenburg chapel.
