An interactive forest trail leads through the area and makes your visit into an adventure, especially for children. A huge bird's nest is waiting to be climbed, bridges take you across wetlands and ponds and viewing platforms offer insights e.g. into the nesting cavity of the woodpecker.
In the area's mosaic of biotopes, you can explore various habitats, from ponds to forest glades. The focus, however, is on the subject of the forest and its value for humans and for nature. The woodpecker is the symbol of the forest adventure trail, and you will very probably meet representatives of this family, as five species have been recorded in the area - from the Green Woodpecker to the rare Black Woodpecker.
It is best to start your hike from one of the two large car parks on the southern edge of the area. You reach these as follows: in Meerhof follow the "Naturerlebnis Wald" signs (woodpecker symbol) until you come to the northern edge of the village.
