Orketal – Orke Valley near Medebach-Medelon

Follow the discovery trail along the Orke stream. 13 information stations provide interesting information about habitats, animals, birds and plants, the previous use of the stream and the nature conservation measures implement under the LIFE project.

Safety information
Some parts of the Orke Stream Trail take you off hard-surfaced paths, leading you through meadows and cattle pastures and into the floodplain. For the experience tour on sometimes wet and slippery paths, you are advised to wear waterproof, sturdy footwear.Please do not feed the grazing animals (cattle, horses, goats, ducks).
Unsuitable food can cause life-threatening diseases in the animals.
Tips and hints
A new brochure has been published for all nature trails in the Medebach Basin region. It is available from the Tourist Information Office in Medebach, together with a naturalist's rucksack for kids to borrow. Western section: Via "Marienglück" through the "Vildischer Grund" to "Kaltenscheid" forester's lodge and back (7.4 km; 9 stations).
Eastern section: To renatured stretches of the Orke below Medelon and back (2.2 km; 4 stations).

Getting there
